I didn’t sleep much last night and the dogs were fussy and loud this morning, so I got out of bed early and took a hike for about ten miles through the countryside to Salies-de-Béarn. The fresh air and abundant landscapes did a world of good.
After putzing around Salies-de-Béarn, I found out my cell phone plan had run out of data. I popped in to a grocery store to use their wifi, but it wouldn’t let me top up my phone, so I had to go to the wee bar with the friendly dude near the bus stop where I knew that they had wifi so I could replenish not only my data, but also my soul.
It was a bit chilly and I had time to kill so I sat in the little bar and drank several Chimay drafts while waiting for the bus back home. The young girl bus driver is always so friendly even with my crappy French and her smile is always illuminating, today even more so as I felt inept from my lack of sleep as I muddled my way through the process of scanning my e-ticket getting on the bus and eventually back home.
Although currently exhausted, today was a nice day in spite of my general grumpiness starting out this morning. All is well that ends well.
