On and On in Oloron

Took a day trip to Oloron-Sainte-Marie with an American woman who recently moved to the area after living in Portugal many years, and her visiting daughter from North Carolina.

We enjoyed coffee and patisseries, walked around, and had lunch at a creperie, while also checking out the gorgeous surrounding scenery and several amazing churches, including one first established in the 12th Century.

Founded in the First Century by the Romans, Oloron-Sainte-Marie later became more established starting in 1080 due to its textile production, and continued its importance throughout the 1800s by its commerce with Spain.

Very cute and picturesque city and I look forward to exploring more of it.
