For my birthday this year, I went to Bordeaux before settling into my life in the deep rural countryside. I very much enjoyed the vibe of Bordeaux and if I ever decide to live in a French city again, Bordeaux is a good contender. I immediately noticed how much quieter it was than Pau which surprised me considering Bordeaux has a population of 250K whereas Pau only has 80K. Of course, that could be due to the differing neighborhoods, but overall I felt a greater sense of calm in Bordeaux than Pau. Bordeaux also is a very grand city with beautiful buildings, monuments, and many photo ops. Just my shtick!
