I took my friend to both Biarritz and Bayonne for a daytrip. The scenery in Biarritz is spectacular and the vibe in Bayonne is bad ass.
Biarritz is known for its royal glamour and beaches for surfing.
Bayonne is known for its Basque background and chocolate.
The Cathédrale Sainte Marie in Bayonne was absolutely gorgeous and we happened to catch some men chanting while visiting. The street art in Bayonne is also very cool. We stopped into a cool dive bar for some local beer to chill. In Biarritz we stopped to get a sandwich and beer and enjoyed both sitting in a plaza while tiny fearless sparrows started snatching food from our fingertips at times resting on our fingers. They were so cute!
When heading back to the train station from Biarritz, we got on the wrong Basque bus heading in the wrong direction and ended up taking it all the way back to Bayonne through the gorgeous suburbs; a fortuitous mistake I will continue to make when visiting Biarritz and Bayonne in the future.
